Engaging Young Innovators in First Lego League Robotics

Join us on our exciting journey into robotics!
This season's FIRST Lego League quest is called UNEARTHED and the challenge is to help Archaeologists with everyday problems they face.
Teams have to research a problem, communicate with archaeologists, and design/build a potential solution. Each team presents their ideas to a panel of judges in competitions.
Each team also designs & builds a Lego robot to tackle missions on a map. This season's missions included: surface brushing, map reveal, mining cart, city reveal, statue, ships, etc.
They have 2.5 minutes to accomplish the tasks for points against other Challenge teams.
Teams are scored for the Innovation Project, Robot Design, Robot Games, and Gracious Professionalism. These also include CORE Values that each team strives to adopt.

Our Story
We became a team in the middle of July 2025 and set up a classroom on Google to share information. We registered our team, set up a Hack foundation account and began filling out grant applications to help purchase the FLL kits and accessories. We had a meet the team party at a local park to meet our teammates. On that day Team Research Explore, eXcavate was born, aka, TREX.
We attended several First Lego League events to learn more about the program and how to get started with our team. We met many archaeologists along the way who helped us with questions we had. We took a tour to the Oakville Indian Mounds to visit an archaeological site firsthand. It was there that we decided we wanted to help archaeologists keep shaded and bug-free at their dig sites.
